Cellist Ignacy Grzelązka was born in Łódź, Poland. He received his musical training at Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with famous Prof. Kazimierz Michalik and his student – soloist and recording artist – Andrzej Bauer. During his college years, Mr. Grzelązka appeared at the concert halls such as the National Philharmonic Hall and the Royal Castle Hall in Warsaw, Poland, the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Hall in Germany, among others. After coming to United States, he received his Master’s degree from Texas Christian University where his was a teaching assistant to Dr. Jesús Castro-Balbi. Currently Mr. Grzelązka is studying with Ms. Rhonda Rider at the Boston Conservatory where he is on the Davi-Ellen and Bruce Chabner’s Scholarship.
Ignacy is been awarded with the Grand Prize, Best Solo Performance Prize and Best Chamber Music Performance Prize at the Allegro-Vivo Music Festival in Horn, Austria; Prize at International Kiejstut Bacewicz Chamber music Competition in Łódź, Poland; twice the Faculty and Friends Chamber Music Series Award at TCU, Fort Worth, TX; a Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture in Poland; a Prize and Scholarship from Austrian Culture Forum in Warsaw, Poland and a Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture in Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Grzelązka took part in numerous master-classes in Austria, Croatia, Italy, USA and his native Poland, working with cellists: Elias Arizcuren, Valter Despajl, Norman Fischer, Alban Gerhardt, Heinz Holliger, Tobias Kühne, Jamie Laredo, Reinhardt Latzko, Josef Luitz, Angelica May, Aldo Parisot, Sharon Robinson, Brant Taylor, Tomasz Strahl and Victoria Yagling. Among many festivals, Ignacy regularly teaches at the Conservatory Music in The Mountains and he is performing at the Festival Music in The Mountains in Durango, CO.
